This course follows materials covered in Varian (1992). Due to its clarity and block building perspectives, the book has been used by most graduate programs in economics and applied economics for almost two decades. Since this is only a one-semester course, we will focus on the first ten chapters in the book – technology, producers’ behavior, consumers’ behavior, and consumers’ welfare measurement. Chapter outline of major contents to be covered in the class will be handed out before the start of each new chapter.
